We haven't been to El Adobe in a loooooong time because it stopped being good. Since then, we haven't really had great Mexican food; tried a lot of places but none were that great - pretty sad in a town where this is a Mexican food restaurant on practically every corner!
My sister recently tried El Adobe again and claimed that it was good again. My wife and I took our son and decided to give a shot... and sure enough, it IS good again!
We've eaten here twice now and it was even better the second time. We generally stick with basic fare... enchilada, taco, burrito - if a place can't get those right, then nothing will be good. All of those items were outstanding. I'll be more daring in the future. Chips and salsa were pretty good - always a good way to start out.
Prices basically on par with every other place. The build is showing its age a little bit but I'm okay with that; restaurant is clean and service was fast and attentive. Best of all - the food was awesome! So glad to be going back to one of our favorites from years ago! -

Been craving Mexican good since I came back from Italy and on my way back home we stopped in Bakersfield and stopped and tried this place .. OMG I gave it a 5stars ! Best waiter , service and food I've had in a long time ! I will make the drive again to have it again

Yaaas! Loove this place. They have a new menu that has so many great new options. Loved this place before I went vegan but now order breakfast potatoes (they absolutely smack) and black beans. Or the veggie fajitas (no butter)! BEST SALSA AND CHIPS IN TOWN. Hands down. Delicious margaritas of all flavors. Modelo and Michelob On tap!. And karaoke on Friday nights!! Big tv at the bar if you're trying to watch a sports game. Friendliest staff and great service. I used to get the lunch special at a great price and they now have grub hub! Don't forget to ask for guac (they will make it special right Infront if you)

This place is so good! I've been going here since I was a little kid, and it's always been top notch. I love this restaurant and so will you! If you're craving good Mexican food and you're by the Valley Plaza Mall (or anywhere in Bakersfield!) this is the place to go.

Food: Salsa and fresh chips on the table were served. Chip salsa is not spicy & has a good taste, you can order their spicy one, the taste is good but no spicy. I ordered the lunch special, any two (2) combination and drink $8.99. Rice, beans where included with my choice of a chili relleno (which I felt it was king of bland) and a chile verde beef enchilada (good sauce). Over all I thought my meal was ok.

Veggie burrito special ordered fajitas style / Good
Lunch special: double enchilada verde / Good
Lunch special: chicken taquitos & enchilada Good
Guacamole (fresh) / Good
